Ulster Heights Vintage Postcard - Trout Stream
From: Ulster Heights General
In this restored vintage postcard, a stern-looking man stands in a stream in the woods fishing, staring directly at the camera with an unsettling intensity. The caption reads "TROUT STREAM, ELLENVILLE, N.Y."
Postmarked in Greenfield on October 13, 1909, this might be the most unintentionally eerie postcard we've found. It was addressed to "Miss E. Howell Manorville Long Island" with a message in a child's handwriting: "DEAR EDNA, I AM HAV-ING A FINE TIME YOUR FRIEND ROGER"
The contrast between Roger's cheerful message and the fisherman's intense stare is... something. When you send this postcard, will you reassure your recipient that you're having a fine time, or let the image do the talking?
The image of the original back is shown here for historical interest only. Your postcard will arrive with a restored blank back, ready for you to pen your own message to a friend or family member.
